Almost all eucalyptus are indigenous to Australia, with over 600 species of recorded Eucalyptus. The species most commonly used to produce essential oil is are those containing a high cineole content. Eucalyptus smithii, commonly grown in South Africa is the oil variety Ayanda African oils is producing currently. Eucalyptus smithii is a colourless to pale yellow colour with a fresh cineole type odour.
